Introduction

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC) is a scientific advisory body that provides independent advice to the Secretary of State for the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Social Development in Northern Ireland on matters relating to the Industrial Injury Disablement Benefit scheme.

The Council's Role

The Council’s role is to advise the Secretary of State on:

The Council is a non-executive body and has no power or authority to become involved in individual cases or in the decision-making process.

IIAC usually meets 4 times each year.
